Williams, Emmett: „EROS“. Eine Reihe von fünf Serigrafien, handgedruckt im November 1979 von Edition Noel, Cambridge, in einer Auflage von 30, davon 26 Sätze, signiert und numeriert [sic!] von A/Z bis Z/Z, und vier Sätze Probedrucke. Graue Esselte-Sammelmappe mit handschriftlicher Titelei des Künstlers recto. Sehr gutes Exemplar. In einer Auflage von 30 alphabetisch nummerierten Exemplaren, davon 4 Exemplare h.c., erschienene, von der Edition Noel in Harvard herausgegebene Edition von fünf schwarzweissen Serigrafien auf Rives BFK-Bütten. Vorliegend Exemplar Nr. F/Z. Die Edition wurde den Käufern von Williams handschriftlich recto auf der Sammelmappe gewidmet. Titelei und Druckspezifikationen handschriftlich in schwarzem Filzstift auf dem Deckel recto von Williams verzeichnet. Dort auch signiert und datiert. Die Grafken jeweils unterhalb des Bildmotivs in Bleistift vom Künstler betitelt, nummeriert, datiert und signiert. „The five suites of serigraphs shown in the exhibition [Generation and Continuities (1979-80)]– Eros, Shakespeare’s XXXth, A-Journey, Impressions of Japan and Incidental Music for Yo-Yo Ma were produced by Edition Noël at Harvard in 1979-1980. All of them are based on experiments in the electrostatic distortion and generation of texts and images. To oversimplify: I used the Xerox 3100 duplicating machine at Leverett House, Harvard University, as a creative tool to perform tasks that makers, buyers and users of such machines used to consider (a) a misuse of sophisticated hardware, (b) a costly waste of time, and (c) the sign of a slight aberration on the part of the artist.
